Limited Warranty Policy
Learn about warranty coverage for eligible used Mustang parts, engines, transmissions, drivetrains and other components purchased from Mustang Auto Spare in Richmond, Virginia.
Protection For Eligible Parts
Mustang Auto Spare sells used Mustang parts including engines, transmissions, complete drivetrains, body parts, brakes, lighting and interior components.
Unless a product listing states different warranty terms, eligible mechanical parts may include a 30-day limited warranty beginning on the date of delivery.
Because these are used automotive components, warranty coverage applies only under the conditions described below and does not guarantee that a used part will have the same life expectancy as a new component.
Understanding Your Warranty
Eligible Mechanical Parts
Certain engines, transmissions and driveline components may qualify for limited warranty coverage unless otherwise stated on the product page.
Proper Installation
Warranty coverage requires correct installation, proper fluids and normal operating conditions.
Inspection Before Use
Parts should be inspected for shipping damage, compatibility and visible issues before installation.
Used Part Condition
Cosmetic wear and normal characteristics of a used component are not considered mechanical warranty failures.
Documentation
Warranty claims may require photographs, diagnostic information and installation details.
Product Terms Control
When a product page states different or additional warranty terms, those product-specific terms apply.
30-Day Limited Warranty
Unless otherwise stated on the applicable product page, eligible mechanical components purchased from Mustang Auto Spare may include a 30-day limited warranty from the date of delivery.
Product-specific warranty terms may provide different coverage periods or conditions. When product-specific terms are stated, those terms take priority.
What The Limited Warranty Covers
Subject to the conditions in this policy, the limited warranty is intended to address a verified internal mechanical failure of an eligible component that prevents the component from performing its primary intended function.
Coverage is determined after the available information regarding the part, installation and reported failure has been reviewed.
Engines
Eligible used engines may be covered for major internal components necessary for normal engine operation, subject to the limitations and exclusions in this policy.
Accessories attached to an engine may be included for convenience and are not automatically covered unless the product description specifically states otherwise.
Examples can include:
- Alternators
- Starters
- A/C compressors
- Sensors
- Wiring harnesses
- Coils
- Fuel-system accessories
- Belts, hoses and tensioners
Transmissions
Eligible transmissions may include limited coverage for verified internal mechanical failure when the transmission has been correctly installed and operated using the proper fluid type and fluid level.
External sensors, wiring, mounts, controllers, programming, clutch components and related accessories are not automatically included unless specifically stated in the product listing.
Complete Drivetrains
Complete drivetrain assemblies can include multiple components supplied together. Warranty coverage applies only to components specifically covered under the applicable product listing or this policy.
Items supplied as part of a swap package should be inspected and confirmed compatible before installation.
Body & Interior Parts
Body panels, doors, seats, trim and similar used parts are primarily sold based on their physical condition and product description.
Normal scratches, marks, fading, wear or other cosmetic characteristics consistent with a used component are not considered mechanical warranty defects unless the listing materially misrepresented the condition.
Electrical & Electronic Parts
Electrical components can be affected by wiring faults, vehicle programming, software, coding, battery voltage, control-module communication and failures elsewhere in the vehicle.
Unless specifically stated on the product page, electrical and electronic parts may have limited or no warranty coverage after installation where permitted by applicable law.
Confirm part numbers, programming requirements and vehicle compatibility before installation.
Airbags & Safety Components
Airbags, restraint-system components and other safety-related parts may require specialized installation, programming or inspection.
These components should only be installed and handled in accordance with applicable safety procedures and legal requirements. Product-specific conditions may apply.
Installation Requirements
Mechanical components must be installed correctly using appropriate procedures, fluids, lubricants and supporting components.
Warranty coverage may be denied where a failure results from improper installation, incorrect fluids, overheating, oil starvation, contaminated systems, faulty supporting components or incorrect vehicle setup.
For major components such as engines and transmissions, professional installation is strongly recommended.
Engine Installation
Before installing a used engine, the installer should inspect and service appropriate maintenance items according to the engine and vehicle requirements.
Depending on the application, this can include:
- Correct engine oil and filter
- Cooling-system inspection
- Fresh coolant
- Belts and hoses
- Spark plugs where appropriate
- Seals and gaskets accessible during installation
- Proper oil pressure verification
- Correct programming and calibration
Transmission Installation
Transmission installation should include the correct manufacturer-specified fluid and any required programming, relearn or adaptation procedures.
Where appropriate, the transmission cooler and lines should be inspected, cleaned or replaced to avoid contamination from a previous transmission failure.
What Is Not Covered
Unless required otherwise by applicable law, this limited warranty does not cover failures or damage resulting from:
- Incorrect installation
- Improper maintenance
- Incorrect or insufficient fluids
- Overheating
- Oil starvation
- Contaminated cooling or lubrication systems
- Vehicle accidents or impact damage
- Racing or competitive use
- Abuse or misuse
- Improper tuning or calibration
- Unauthorized modification
- Disassembly before claim authorization
- Failures caused by another vehicle component
- Normal wear associated with a used component
Performance & Modified Vehicles
Mustang parts are frequently used in modified or performance applications. Increased horsepower, aftermarket forced induction, aggressive tuning, racing use or operation outside the component’s intended specifications can place additional stress on used parts.
Damage caused by modifications or operating conditions outside normal intended use is not covered unless expressly stated otherwise.
Labor Costs
Unless specifically stated in writing for the applicable product, the limited warranty applies to the eligible part itself and does not cover labor costs.
This includes installation, removal, diagnosis, towing, storage, rental vehicles, programming, machining or other consequential expenses.
Shipping Costs
Warranty-related shipping arrangements depend on the circumstances of the claim and the size of the component.
Engines, transmissions and complete drivetrains should never be shipped back without authorization because freight arrangements may be required.
Please review our Shipping Policy for additional delivery information.
Do Not Disassemble Before Authorization
If a component develops a suspected failure during the warranty period, contact Mustang Auto Spare before disassembling, rebuilding, repairing or modifying it.
Unauthorized disassembly can make it difficult to determine the original cause of a failure and may affect warranty eligibility where permitted by law.
Warranty Claim Documentation
To evaluate a warranty claim, we may request reasonable information related to the reported problem.
This can include:
- Order number
- Product name
- Vehicle year and model
- VIN or relevant vehicle information
- Installation date
- Installation details
- Photographs or video
- Diagnostic codes
- Technician findings
- Fluid condition where relevant
Warranty Resolution
After a claim is reviewed and approved, the available resolution may depend on the product, inventory and circumstances of the verified issue.
An appropriate resolution may include repair where practical, replacement with a comparable available part, store credit or refund of the eligible product amount.
The specific resolution will be determined based on the circumstances of the approved claim and applicable law.
Replacement Parts
Because our inventory consists primarily of used Mustang parts, an identical replacement may not always be available.
If a replacement is approved but an equivalent component is unavailable, another appropriate resolution may be offered.
Returns & Warranty Are Different
A warranty claim concerns a covered defect or mechanical failure. A return request can involve other circumstances, including an unwanted item or compatibility issue.
Non-warranty returns remain subject to our Returns & Refund Policy .
Product-Specific Warranty Terms
Certain products may have different warranty periods, exclusions or conditions because of their age, condition, application or type.
If the product listing contains specific warranty information, those product-specific terms form part of the purchase conditions and take priority over conflicting general terms on this page.
Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.
Where applicable consumer law provides rights beyond these terms, the applicable legal requirements will control.
